EV Charger Installation in Whitby

Level 2 home charging for Tesla, J1772, and all EVs. Dedicated circuit, proper load calculation, and code-compliant install.

A Level 2 charger adds roughly 40-50 km of range per hour, meaning a full charge overnight from any state. That convenience only works if the circuit is sized correctly, the wiring is rated for continuous load, and the install passes ESA inspection.

We handle the full scope: load calculation to confirm your panel can support the charger, dedicated 40A or 50A circuit run to your garage or driveway, NEMA 14-50 outlet or hardwired connection depending on your charger model, and the ESA permit. If your panel needs an upgrade first, we can bundle both jobs.

How much does an EV charger install cost?

It depends on the cable run length, your panel capacity, and whether you want a hardwired unit or a NEMA 14-50 outlet. We give a flat price on site before any work begins, and if a panel upgrade is needed we quote that separately so you can decide with full information.

Can I install an EV charger myself?

Ontario law allows you to do electrical work in a home you own and live in, but you must file the ESA notification yourself and the work has to meet the Ontario Electrical Safety Code. Anyone you hire must be a Licensed Electrical Contractor. A new 240V continuous-load circuit involves load calculations and wire sizing, so most homeowners hand this one to a pro.

Level 1 vs Level 2: what is the difference?

Level 1 uses a standard 120V outlet and adds about 6-8 km of range per hour. Level 2 uses a 240V dedicated circuit and adds 40-50 km per hour. For most daily drivers, Level 2 means a full charge overnight regardless of how much you drove.

Are there rebates for EV charger installation in Ontario?

Ontario does not currently offer a provincial rebate for home charger installation. Some local utilities offer incentives for smart chargers or time-of-use rates that reward overnight charging, and federal energy retrofit loan programs have covered charger installs. We recommend checking with your utility before you buy a unit.
